Piggotts flies its flags across London for Jubilee

Piggotts, part of the Crown Group, had two reasons to add to its Diamond Jubilee celebrations this week after the company completed a 1,000-flag dressing over much of London’s West End, and the distribution of over 2,570 flags to schools across the borough.

The flags, which include bunting and Union Jack’s, have been displayed as part of the West End’s largest ever ‘cross street’ display of Union Jack flags. Piggotts has partnered The Crown Estate, Regent Street Association, New West End Company, Burlington Arcade Grosvenor Estates, Media Circus, Mayfair and St James Association, Covent Garden and Heart of London Business Alliance as part of the contract.

Piggotts has been providing street decorations for national celebrations and British Monarchs since 1821, and was awarded the West End contract after demonstrating a track recorded of performing expert installation and providing superior products.

Separately, the ‘flags and banners’ division of Piggotts distributed its flags, which are 1.5 metres by 1 metre in size, to 2570 schools this week, accompanied by a letter from Mayor Boris Johnson.

The Greater London Assembly, the strategic authority with a London-wide role to design a better future for the capital, awarded the contract to Piggotts due to its cost efficiency, reputation for reliability and for successfully supplying the iconic flags along Oxford Street and Regent Street for the Royal wedding last year.

Lee Harvey, managing director, Piggotts, said: “We are delighted to see our flags take prime position across so many iconic streets in the West End, as well as outside schools that are filled with excited children who are looking forward to the Jubilee.

“We are thrilled to be supporting these schools so that they can proudly wave the flag during the celebrations.

“Our flags and banners division has supplied flags for many national celebrations and we are extremely pleased to continue this tradition during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Jace Tyrrell, director of communications at New West End Company, which represents 600 businesses in Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street, said: “The eyes of the world will be on London this June as we embark on one of the biggest summers in modern British history.

“The Union Jack flags across London’s West End will be seen by over 12 million visitors and Piggotts has been our key partner in delivering this stunning spectacular in honour of HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.”
